Equity Stage Manager

Since Emory

I walked into Emory focused on performance and biology but quickly discovered that my talent and personality is much more suited towards stage management.  After graduating, I interned at the Goodspeed Opera House as a general tech intern, and then at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park as a stage management intern, where I was later asked to join the stage management staff and was given my Equity Card.  I have been a member of Actors Equity for over 15 years spending most of my time stagemanaging at regional LORT theaters across the country.

Currently activities

I currently serve at the Production Stage Manager at Merrimack Repertory Theatre outside of Boston from fall to spring and as the Production Stage Manager at Music Theatre of Wichita during the summers.  Most recently I have branched out to teaching stage management at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI and Tufts University in Boston.

Highlights at Emory

By the end of my freshman year, I joined Ad Hoc’s board as Treasurer and was elected to President the following spring.  I loved being a part of Ad Hoc, and I really learned a lot about myself and about working with other people in a way I hadn’t had to before.

In retrospect

I appreciated the one on one faculty & staff interaction.  It prepared me to handle myself with seasoned professionals when I entered the “real world.”  I was prepared to be an active problem solver and a much more confident individual.
